Mercy Chereno, a 21-year-old woman being accused of robbery was tied to a motorbike and dragged along a dirt road by one of the Kenyan police officers in Nairobi. The whole incident was recorded and has been shared on social media widely. She pleaded for mercy but the police couldn’t hear none of that. The three Kenyan police officers involved have been arrested.
There are also reports saying that 15 people had been killed by Kenyan police previous week during the nation-wide curfew. But no charges have been brought against them so far. A UN human rights report documented widespread police violence in 182 communities, including beating, sexual violence and damage to property.
